Jamaica Cass is a third year Ph.D. student in the Cancer Research Institute at Queen’s University. Jamaica has been awarded several international, national, and institutional awards related to her Ph.D. research and she has presented at many international conferences. Jamaica has been a teaching assistant for Introductory Microbiology and Immunology for three years, and has helped organize, instruct, and run a high-school enrichment program called E=MC2: Cancer Today for three years. As of this year she is also instructing an elementary school enrichment program called SEEDS: From DNA to Forensics and the Queen’s Neurology Outreach Program for seniors. Jamaica thinks it is important to explain material in an energetic and exciting way and engage students to both ask and answer questions as she goes!
